Smart's School-In-A-Bag Brings Digital Learning To Distant Places

As part of their efforts to bring quality education to all in this digitally-driven age, Smart Communications brought their School-in- a-Bag package to the Rawang Elementary School in Tanay, Rizal. The package contains a laptop, a mobile phone, and a tablet. It also has a pocket WiFi with load, electrical solar panels, an LED TV, and learning modules. Rawang is one of the ten schools in the country that will receive School-in- a-Bag units.

This development makes information more accessible even to remote areas in the country. Likewise, it also improves teaching techniques for they can browse educational videos and play them in class. Also, the tablet in the package is installed with the Batibot app which was developed by OrangeFix and Community of Learners Foundation. Batibot is the first Filipino learning app that follow the DepEd national curriculum for Kindergarten. The app contains games and activities that teach children how to read the alphabet, identify colors, and recognize numbers. Users can also trace letters on screen using the app.

Not only will School-in- a-Bag entice students to learn every day, but it will also help remote schools participate in the global education drive. For Php 100,000, individuals and organizations can bring School-in- a-Bag to more schools in the country. Interested donors can contact technocrat@smart.com.ph.
