Globe, PNP and NBI Yields Series of Arrests

Through the partnership of Globe Telecom, the Philippine National Police, and the National Bureau of Investigation, 65 alleged cable thieves and fraudsters have been arrested and charged. Out of this number, 12 individuals are prosecuted for Estafa due to illegal re-contracting and subscription fraud, 31 are facing cases for illegal sale of WiMax Modems, and 20 are charged for cable theft.

Globe General Legal Counsel Attorney Froilan Castelo, said that the cases are a testimony that they will leave no stone unturned in pursuing individuals or groups who are making fraudulent transactions which put the company’s name and customer satisfaction level in bad light. Castelo also advised the public, particularly Globe customers, to be critical against people who promise cheaper prices and shorter subscription periods that may cause them problems in the long run. He added that dealing with legitimate Globe distributors and sellers is highly advised.

To improve the security of Globe customers, Castelo also said that they have installed closed circuit television camera systems in all Globe Stores nationwide. Footages from this system can be used against those who would try to engage in identity theft for personal gain.
